Lucas Andrews

Lucas Andrews started his career in the golf industry at Predator Ridge Resort in Vernon, B.C. Lucas thoroughly enjoyed his experience at the golf course and enrolled in the Associate Diploma in Turfgrass Management (ADTM) program at the University of Guelph.

Following the 2008 Superintendent in Residence Program with guest lecturer Gordon McKie, Head Greenskeeper of The Old Course at St. Andrews, Lucas joined St. Andrews Links as a student intern. During his time at the ‘Home of Golf’ he got his first taste of preparing the golf course for tournaments. It was at this time he knew this was what he wanted to explore for his career.

After completing his internship in Scotland, Lucas moved to TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. His exposure to tournament golf was elevated to the highest level during the 2009 PLAYERS Championship. After graduating from the ADTM program in 2010, he returned to a full time position at TPC Sawgrass.

TPC Sawgrass is home to the famed PLAYERS Stadium Course and Dye’s Valley Course.  This facility hosts the PLAYERS Championship and the Web.Com Tour Championship every year. As Lucas developed professionally at TPC Sawgrass, he was successfully promoted through the ranks, beginning as an Assistant in Training, Assistant, and ultimately achieving the position of Superintendent.

Lucas is extremely excited to return to the University of Guelph and spend time with the current ADTM students on campus and other industry professionals. He will be sharing his golf career experiences and what it takes to host The PLAYERS Championship with the turf community at the upcoming Superintendent in Residence Event. Details are below and on behalf of Lucas and the turf program at UofG, we hope to see you there!!
