Upcoming Diploma in Turf info night
If you enjoy working outside, problem solving, and being part of a team, then turfgrass management is a great career choice. The turfgrass industry is a multi-million dollar business in Canada, which includes sod production, sports field management, golf, and municipal land management. We have seen a tremendous demand from the industry for our graduates, with 100% of the students leaving the program with one or more job offers to provide functional greenspaces worldwide.
Testimonials from Diploma in Turfgrass Management (DTM) students
What do you like best about your program?
- I enjoy being taught by professors that worked in the industry prior to teaching. They bring a lot of knowledge and experience to the program. I find it’s a very hands-on, discussion-based and inclusive program.
- The small class sizes are by far my favourite part. My class is a tight-knit group already, and we get to know our instructors well. The program also blends in hands-on learning coupled with turfgrass management theories, so we understand both sides.
Do you have a favourite class or professor?
- Turfgrass industry was one of my favourite classes so far. It’s great hearing about others’ co-op placements and what different experience we all had but, in a way, still feeling like we’re all sharing a very similar experience.
- I have enjoyed all my classes so far, and all the instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful. Turf Soil Principles with Mike Van Beek has been my favourite so far.
Why did you decide to study at the University of Guelph?
- I decided to study at the University of Guelph due to the outstanding reputation of the turfgrass management program. It is one of two programs in Canada, and I’ve met people that went through the program and had nothing but great things to say.
- I decided to study at the University of Guelph and more specifically turfgrass management because I always worked on a course as a summer job. I just never knew that there was a program for turfgrass until I became more interested and started asking questions about the industry. That led me to enrolling at the University of Guelph due its amazing reputation on the program.
