COVID-19 and U of G Update

Norman E. MCCollum .    Feb 7th, 1944 - July 9th, 2019

In Loving Memory - Norman E. McCollum

On July 9th, Norman E. McCollum, longtime superintendent of the GTI, instructor in the Turfgrass Managers' Short Course and former Research Technician at the University of Guelph, passed away. Friends will be received at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, on Sunday, July 14, 2019 from 2-4, and 7-9pm, and on Monday, July 15, 2019 from 10-12 p.m., with a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 12 p.m. Reception to follow.

2019 Superintendent In Residence - Cory Janzen

Cory Janzen, Superintendent at Westmount Golf and Country Club will be the University of Guelph's 2019 Superintendent in Residence.

CGSA and Partners Announce National Golf Day Canada

On May 3rd 2018, The CGSA put out a press release announcing that May 29th will be henceforth known as "National Golf Day".  In partnerhsip with Golf Canada, PGA of Canada, the National Golf Course Owners Association Canada (NGCOA), and the Canadian Society of Club Managers (CSCM), the movement will take place on Parliament Hill in Ottawa for two days (May 29th and May 30th).  Representatives from each organization will be meeting with MP's, policy makers, and Senators to raise awareness of the benefits that the game of golf brings to Canada.

DTM Students Place in top 10 at GCSAA Turf Bowl

Twelve Associate Diploma in Turfgrass Management students recently traveled to Orlando, Florida and represented the University of Guelph, Department of Plant Agriculture and Ontario Agricultural College at the annual Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) Turf Bowl, hosted at the annual Golf Industry Show.
